Dear All:
Here is another potential foundation lead:
http://www.mamacash.nl/english/grants/grants.html
Who is she
Mama Cash, the first independent funding organization for women, strives for a peaceful and just world, a world where women are free to make their own choices and to develop their myriad talents and skills. It is for these very same reasons that Mama Cash supports women's groups that blaze the trails with self-initiated projects. In fact, it is heeding such trailblazing or groundbreaking projects, and often supporting new and smaller women's groups, that sets Mama Cash apart from other grantmaking organizations.
The activities of the women's groups supported by Mama Cash are centered around the following thematic areas:
Physical Integrity;
Art, Culture and Media;
Economic Justice;
Peace and Security;
Empowerment and Participation.
Program:
Economic Justice: women fighting against economic exploitation and poverty, looking for solutions
The importance of free trade and privatization in today's world economy has led to a decline in social structures, working conditions have drastically worsened and transnational corporations have usurped the power of national governments. Women are marginalized and exploited within the existing economic structures and their significant input into the economy goes unacknowledged.
Mama Cash supports groups that, despite all the dangerous situations they are confronted with, nevertheless wish to counterbalance this structural inequality. Women in Latin America and Asia are working in sectors that provide little industrial safety and trade union training. The economic system shamelessly exploits these women. Sexual harassment in the workplace is not prohibited by law in Mexico. Also in the Netherlands and other western countries one cannot help but notice the lack of gender equality. In these 'enlightened' times, women in 2003 still earn less than their male counterparts.
Grant requests
Applications for The Netherlands and Europe as well as the Global South (Asia and the Middle East, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean) and the former Soviet Union, can be submitted throughout the entire year. Applications must be filled out in Dutch, English, French or Spanish. Mama Cash will only assess applications that meet her criteria and are properly completed. There are two types of application forms:
>subsidies (Artcamp, these are active links but I had trouble getting them to open. Maybe you can.)
>travel grant
Four times a year Mama Cash assesses the submitted applications. After each meeting applicants will be informed about the council's decision. The entire application procedure takes three to six months.
The average grant ranges ranges from $2,000 to $10,000 (€2,000 to €10,000).
