Zenaida is a poor village girl in Mexico who kisses her boyfriend good-bye and heads out to the United States with her brother. After a harrowing border-crossing experience, she ends up working as a maid for a pair of neurotic love-starved sisters in the rich suburbs of Dallas, Texas. Zenaida loyally goes about her work in the luxurious suburban house as the sisters fishing for love on the internet forums. She understands a little English, not nearly enough to comprehend when one or the other of them would open her texas heart to the innocent village girl.relating tales of unrequited love. The need for love drives the internet fantasies of the sisters; they sit there for hours, as she cleans.
The twin debacles of the sisters drive them to increasing intimacy with the Mexican girl - the sisters
come to depend emotionally on her natural good humor and healthy vitality and her maidenly beauty
they begin to treat her as if she were their daughter, and as if her own family did not exist. Natural emotions act as an emotional magnet to the older women as they begin to attach new versions of personal aspirations to their discourse – the new scenarios foresaw Zenaida going with them to visit their mother at the nursing home (to get her included in the old lady's will) and going to Las Vegas
with them on their annual trip regaling her with descriptions of the differences between the casinos.
Zenaida could understand very little of the sisters' language; she mostly smiled as the sisters talked.The village girl dreams in a bedroom that is bigger than her family's house in Tecalpulco.
In the foreground are the pitiable escapades of Crystal and Doreen – how they crave love,
because they do not know to love themselves; and they can not figure that out for anything....
The Mexican girl is their new maid who has been concerned with cleaning everything perfectly.
She wants to be to not make a mistake so she can take money to western union every two weeks.
If you love good literature that takes some chances, Zenaida Novela is for YOU to experience.
and MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH more
This is like nothing ever seen on the Internet before; there is nothing to compare it to either:

Zenaida Novela
Mexican woman in the United States as a wetback maid
for two love-starved sisters in a suburb of Dallas Texas .
A girl from a poor community in southern Rural Mexico leaves her traditional life
and departs on a long journey as an illegal wetback worker in the United States .
Her travails include difficulties in getting across the border,
exploitive ·coyotes·, the Border Patrol, rip-off phone cards...
She gets a job at a well-off household in suburban Dallas Texas ,
taking care of the kitchen and the house and garden of two sisters.
The kitchen where Zenaida works is of modern design with shiny formica
complete with every imaginable, and unimaginable, electric convenience.
The sisters show Zeniada this one contraption
used for separating egg yolks from the white.
The American women are neurotic and involved with
efforts to seduce men into falling in love with them.
The women cannot even come close to pronouncing
her name; for this reason they dubbed her "“Jenny”"
With pidgeon English and her ever-present smile, Zenaida does her chores
and actually does a lot more than what one might reasonably expect of her.
Gradually, Zenaida's calm rational demeanor becomes a point of reference
for the sisters who increasingly respond to the healthy sense she radiates.
They grow to love her in their neurotic fashion and rely upon her presence;
The poor country girl is happy that she is pleasing to them and does her job.
The cleanliness and sense of rational purpose of the young migrant worker
contrasts with the psychic slovenliness and aimless desperation of the sisters.
Her nominal dependency upon the sisters for her livelihood and protection
is paralleled by their growing dependency on her for joy and mental health.
As the sisters increasingly grow to **love** her,
Zenaida feels at first gratitude, then confusion.
The contortions and deceptions that the sisters put themselves through
to try and trick men into loving them, seen through the eyes of Zeneida.
Even though she is little more than a child,
Zeneida knows more about love than they do.
She remembers her boyfriend Miguel calling out to her
with unfeigned grace and an entirely natural sincerity.
The smile in his eyes was not contrived at all; something
she had from the world before she ever met the sisters.
The sisters tie Zenaida into some inane deception scheme
that she could see was not only futile, it was ridiculous.
Zeneida must have wondered what a love could be worth
that would had been purchased by such grotesque deception.
But the sisters didn't seem to ever notice how absurd were the plans they laid,
never seemed to wonder why the men they attracted always fled from them.
Something about the quality of innocence that was Zeneida's
made the thick plots and dreary aftermaths not stick to her.
It was her sweet innocence, after she had gone along to please,
that was the only thing shining after the sisters' latest debacle.
The chaotic state of affairs in the lives of the American sisters
was considered by them to be entirely normal and ordinary.
Zeneida did not wonder at that; she did her work, she strove to please;
it was the memory sound of birds chirping in her village that serenaded her.
The placid rationality of Zeneida became an attractive magnet for the sisters;
they didn't realize that the fact that she was working made all the difference.
So much of the daily depression they were experiencing and trying to find a man
in order to assuage pain, was due to their inactivity and lack of any real challenge.
She couldn't help them with that and indeed did not herself understand it;
why these women should be so unhappy was a complete mystery to her
The sisters become more emotionally dependent on their maid Zeneida
they even come to believe that they have come to treat her as a *daughter* .
Of course what a **daughter** means to the sisters is quite different
than what Zeneida herself understands, remembering her own mother.
The happiness and joy she brought to the house becomes the pride of the sisters;
they show Zeneida off to their friends. ...and then send her off to wash the dishes.
As the American women exploit Zeneida's healthy sanity;
the Mexican girl herself, is slowly slowly being driven crazy.
Finally, she is forced to escape without even saying good-bye, by crawling
through a tiny window like pipe she crawled through to get into the USA .
The story ends when Zeneida has returned to her native village
And her boyfriend Miguel says a few simple words to her.
What he says is nothing really in itself.
they both break out in childlike giggles.
Her Mexican village, bouganvilla and bonete tree;
material poverty is transcended by the human spirit
Zeneida's has returned to her home.
all she has remembered is unchanged
She is simple and smiling with her boyfriend
anticipating a life of love, and their children.
Zenaida Novelais the story of the village girl who went to the United States as a wetback.
